How were you introduced to Takodah?
My older brother had been going for a few years, but before that I made my bones at Hornet’s Nest and Mini Camp.
Did you attend college, and if so, where and what did you study?
Studied Health Sciences and Occupational Therapy at Carleton University and Queens’ University.
What do you do for work?
I am an occupational therapist, I work primarily with teens transitioning into adulthood to support their development of skills and routines they will need to live a more independent life.
What moment in your career are you most proud of?
We are still early in this career so we will see where it goes, but there are some moments of mid-crisis support folks in compromising situations that I am very proud of.
Did your time at Takodah influence your career, if so, how?
Camp didn’t change the career path I pursued, but it did give me the confidence to reach for new challenges. Once I taught one level 6 swim class without a lesson plan, I felt like I could probably do anything.
Are there any skills or traits you gained at Takodah that you use in your professional life?
100%. Takodah, and the skills I honed there, has shaped almost every part of my professional journey. I learned how to public speak as a PD, how to problem solve on my feet (even in the middle of the night) as a DH, how to connect with folks of all ages, and how to have fun amidst chaos and confusion. I genuinely believe that my time at Takodah helps me everyday.
Are there any specific memories from your time at Takodah that are still impactful to you?
There are so many things from my time at camp I will never forget, I made some of my best friends there, I met my wife there, but, above all else, I will always cherish those Salad Salad Salad days. A true culinary masterclass.
